Popular history educator saying he's not going to take a public stance on politics as if politics and history aren't deeply intertwined. Meanwhile commenters are going after anyone in the comments saying they're "making everything political" as if politics doesn't impact everyone's lives and several people saying shit like "we're tired of Palestine"
Educating people is political. History is political. It's insane to expect people to want to make sure the people they financially support aren't fostering a community that's "neutral" on the multiple genocides happening right now (or, in several cases, actively spreading misinformation about them)
"People care more about your stances than the actual things you say/do" Oh no! People are impacted by politics and therefore are very passionate about it! The horrors!! It's almost like "stances" are a quick way for people to gauge whether or not a person is safe to be around!!!
Genuinely, fuck centrists. You don't have to make massive amounts of content about this, but not making it clear that you are against fascism and genocide gives fascists a community. A community that gives fascists space is a fascist community.
